Child & Vulnerable Persons’ Protection Officer
The Surrey County Bowling Association follows the National
Governing Body Guidelines in promoting policies to encourage
clubs to adopt and implement the highest standards in their care
of children and vulnerable adults playing bowls. In accordance
with this, all Surrey Coaches have Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
clearance and all new Coaches receive Child Protection training
during their course. Each bowls club is expected to appoint a
Child Protection Officer who must obtain CRB clearance. We
encourage clubs to appoint one of their already-trained Coaches
where possible, but any member is eligible, and the Child
Protection Officer can arrange clearance and training.

Clubs can obtain a copy of the Child
Protection Guidelines by downloading them from:
|
The Surrey County Bowling Association is currently reviewing its
policy on obtaining re-clearance of Coaches and CPOs from the
CRB at three year intervals because the government guidelines
are in the process of change.
The Child Protection Officer is always happy to assist clubs
with queries about Child Protection and may be contacted by
phone, by e-mail or by letter.

Benevolent Fund
This charitable fund was set up with the express purpose of
granting aid or relief to Surrey bowlers (who are or have been
members of the Association) and their dependants who, from
age, illness or infirmity or any other cause, are impoverished
or in distressed financial circumstances. The fund is wholly
reliant on the generosity of clubs, associations and
individuals to provide the money to enable it to function.
Donations from Clubs and individuals are welcomed.

Surrey Patrons
Founded in 1971 the Association is open to all Surrey bowls
club members.
The Association’s aim is to put something back into the game
out of which we derive much pleasure. The Association has a
match programme each season against clubs and associations
within the County. It has its own tie and lapel badge.
Applications to join the Patrons are normally made through
your Club Secretary or Patrons’ Delegate.
