Office Window Bullets

 

 

The Office Window first appeared in the 1928 Year Book. It has since evolved from a simple reminder about the annual dinner and county competitions and now supplements the Diary Reminders page. The full version is in the current Year Book.

 

PLEASE

REMEMBER

  • to address correspondence to the Secretary
  • to hold Club AGMs before the County AGM in November so that accurate Forms A can be with the Secretary by 15 November
  • to inform the Secretary if you invite a County Official to a Club function
  • the Surrey County Bowling Association Dinner
  • the Surrey County Bowling Association AGM and the Patrons AGM that precedes it
  • to deal promptly with the completion of Form A, Form B , Form C and Form D.
  • that County Badges and Ties – for those entitled to wear them – can be obtained from Jim Green (Tel: 01483 276605)
  • only male players can compete in County competitions and matches
  • a County-affiliated Club cannot change its Name or Green without the consent of the Association
  • to offer green fees (green keeper’s gratuity) to your host Club
 

DON'T

FORGET

  • the principal way to National Honours is through the Surrey County Championships – Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours and U25s
  • scorecards from all County competitions should be retained and produced at the Area Finals or as directed by the Area Competition Secretary
  • composition bowls for competitive and domestic play must bear a legible stamp of 1985 or later
  • all qualifying competitors for National Competitions should have their bowls re-stamped (Law 8)
  • lignum bowls must have the official BIBC stamp
  • every competitor in County Competitions should purchase a County Year Book
  • every Club should have a current Bowls England Handbook, ordered through the County Secretary
  • copies of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls are obtainable from either BE or local bowls retailers
  • members of affiliated Clubs may wear the County metal badge, obtainable from Jim Green (Tel: 01483 276605)
  • the need for a signed Consent Form for all Juniors. Every Coach must complete a reference form in accordance with Bowls England Guidelines
  • to enter Bowls England competitions that now include:

  • National Two-Fours

  • National Singles and Pairs for over 55 year olds

  • National Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours

  • Champion of Champions

  • Top Club

 

Dress Code for Middleton Cup, Senior Home Counties League AND

Inter-County Friendlies  

is now :-

Off the Green : Blazer, grey trousers, white shirt (not polo) with County tie.  

On the Green : New style County coloured shirt and new style County coloured jackets (both can be purchased or hired) with white trousers and socks with white, brown or grey shoes. Waterproof clothing and any headgear (if worn) should be white.

Exceptions

For Middleton Cup matches as above but white shoes must be worn.

In the final stages of Bowls England National Championships at Worthing shirts may be either the new style County coloured shirts, properly authorised Club coloured shirts or plain white shirts with white trousers and white shoes. In team games in these Championships (pairs, triples and fours), all players of the same team should wear the same attire.

Please note that for President’s matches, Patrons matches, Past President’s and any other matches the playing attire will be white shirts, with appropriate tie, and white trousers and socks. Same attire as above for "off the green".

For all Under 25’s matches, players will be given an ‘old style’ coloured shirt to play on the green but they should wear white or grey trousers as indicated on the match selection sheet. Junior players should where ever possible observe the Dress Code as above for ‘off the green’.
