SURREY COUNTY BOWLING
ASSOCIATION BENEVOLENT FUND
Clubs are reminded that the County Benevolent Fund, a
charitable fund, exists solely to help Surrey bowlers
(who are or have been affiliated members of the SCBA)
and their dependants who from age, illness, infirmity or
any other cause are impoverished or in distressed
financial circumstances.
Recent seasons have seen a decline in the number of
applications which has mainly been caused by the
eventual passing away of several individuals we have
helped. Hardly any new applications have been received
in recent years which is a surprise to the Trustees as
the law of simple averages dictates that some
individuals, and possibly families, are living very
close to the breadline. Club Secretaries are asked to
examine their current membership and if they are unsure
whether any of their members qualify for the Funds
assistance then please contact Hon. Secretary Jack
Turvil on 01483 535344 or Hon. Treasurer Graham A.
Robinson on 01483 422935
who will be only too pleased to give you further
information and assist in compiling an application.
The Benevolent Fund has ample funds at present to help
in extreme cases and the Trustees hope that
this will encourage Clubs to apply for future grants
which are usually paid out just before Christmas.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED BOWLS ENGLAND (VIBE)
In July of 2013, Visually
Impaired Bowls England (VIBE) are hosting their
World Championships at Beach
House Park in Worthing. In support of this,
Bowls England will be
launching a fund raising initiative in 2011 to run right
through to the event itself.
One of many ventures is to be a bookstall at the
National Championships, both at Leamington Spa and
Worthing, and it would be greatly appreciated if you
could donate any of your unwanted books.
Collection points will be :-
1) Bowls England HQ in Worthing.
2) Bowls England Office in
Leamington Spa.
3) Bill Hatto's House in Surrey ( Please
contact Bill on 01276 21226 ).
4) Bowls England's April Conference
in Leamington Spa.
Our own Bill Hatto will be overseeing the venture and he
and Bowls England look forward to receiving
your donations - with many thanks in
advance.
